At the end of the survey, the consulting firm developed the airport's master plan updates and the infrastructure design, along with the construction of a new third terminal, till the 2035. At present the passenger handling capacity of the terminal is 8 million.

Considering the increasing demand for air traffic, the existing terminal will increase its passenger numbers to 14 million by 2025 and to 24.8 million in 2035, the survey said. Two Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 Aircraft will be Adding in Biman Fleet

The fourth Dreamliner 787-8 ‘Rajhansa’ has been added and inaugurated on 17 Sept 2019 on the Biman Bangladesh Airlines fleet. Since the inauguration of the 'Rajhansa', the government has planned to add two more Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 to the Bangladesh Airlines - Biman.

The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself expressed interest in buying these new two Boeing. Later the Biman has decided to buy two new Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 which is larger in size and capacity than 787-8 model. Biman was negotiated with the Boeing Company for over a month after that. Biman may be getting a chance to buy every 787-9 Dreamliners at half the current market price which could be around US$ 150 million. These new two 787-9 Dreamliner may be added in Biman fleet in December this year.

There are currently 16 aircraft in the Biman fleet. Of these, the number own aircraft on Biman is 10, the rest of the aircrafts are of leases. All of the own aircrafts were purchased from Boeing Company. Of these, four are Dreamliners 787-8, four are 777-300 ER and rest two are 737-800. If two new 787-9 aircraft are purchased, then the total number of own aircraft in Biman will be 12. In addition next year three new Dash-8 aircrafts from Canada will be adding.

According to various websites on the internet, the current market price of a Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 aircraft is US$ 292.5 million (around 2,480 Crore BD Taka). Two 787-9 aircraft will cost US$ 585 million (around 4,960 Crore BD Taka).

Recently the Chinese ‘Hainan Airlines’ which is one of top China's civilian airlines, canceled their deal with Boeing. In that context, Boeing offered to sell two Dreamliners at low prices. The Prime Minister expressed interest in buying these two Dreamliners and the Biman began negotiating with Boeing to buy these two brand new 787-9 Dreamliner.

A Dreamliner 787-9 model aircraft cost around US $ 300 million. Boeing began discussing prices and accessories in the first week of October with Biman. The Boeing Company proposed US$ 155 million for each aircraft. The Biman offered their price at $ 135 million. Then Boeing reduced the price by $ 150 million for each Dreamliner. Despite this the bargaining between the two sides continued. The recent decision to buy Dreamliner for less than US $ 150 million has been finalized.

The Boeing Company will provide an additional engine. As per the information, at a meeting of the board of directors of Biman on 23-10-2019, it was unanimously decided to buy two 787-9 Dreamliners. Very soon a state-owned bank will finance for the purchase of these aircrafts. And the Biman will start paying the Boeing Company this month.

However, two planes will arrive within this year. As part of the purchase of Dreamliner 787-9, a team from Biman will soon head to Boeing's office in Seattle, United States. The Boeing provided an additional engine with the previous four 787-8 Dreamliners. Boeing is giving an additional engine with the two new 787-9 Dreamliner. The engines are made by General Aviation, with the previous four Dreamliners 787-8.

The Boeing only manufactures the body itself. Accessories including engines are purchased from other companies. For example, Boeing adds the General Motors / Aviation or Rolls-Royce engines to their aircraft. General Motors has better engine quality than Rolls-Royce. In addition, seat covers or other machinery will be purchased from different companies, the color value, the interior decoration will be made on a design basis. The price of these airplanes is less. Boeing has a separate catalog for everything.

The Boeing Company is developed three models of Dreamliner 787. Technical Specifications of these popular models are as follows:

Bangladesh Tourism Sector | 5 Steps Improvements

Bangladesh has made great achievement in tourism sectors through development of security, infrastructure and communication of the country. In the last two years tourism sector of Bangladesh has risen by five steps globally. In 2017 the global position was 125th and this year the position has become 120th.

However, Bangladesh is still far behind in the global average index. This image has appeared in the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2019 of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The number of tourist arrival around the world is increasing every year. In 2018 more than 1.4 billion tourists arrived worldwide.

According to the report, total 140 countries have been ranked based on 90 criteria including ports and aviation infrastructure, security, culture, accommodation, financial quality and stable travel opportunities etc. In this, Bangladesh has made the most progress in security in the Asia-Pacific area through regional analysis. Bangladesh has ranked 105th in this index from the previous position 123rd. With improved on security, Bangladesh will be now very convenient for international tourists.

Spain has availed the top position. From second to tenth places have been acquired by France, Germany, Japan, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Canada and Switzerland.

The report Says,
"Asia-Pacific is the second-most competitive region in terms of T&T. Japan (4th) leads the region in overall score, while Bangladesh (120th) had the greatest improvement. The region boasts the best combination of natural and cultural resources, including the highest regional performance for the Cultural Resources and Business Travel sub-index."
According to the report:
  • Bangladesh has moved to 111th from position 116th in the grounding of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
  • In Travel and tourism priorities it has moved to position 121st from 127th.
  • In the costing competition Bangladesh has moved to position 85th from previous position 89th
  • In the land and port infrastructure facilities it has moved to 60th from position 74th.
  • In environment safety Bangladesh has moved to position 116th from 128th.

The report said that Bangladesh is one of the countries that achieved some greatest improvements in travel and tourism potential. But as a whole the country is still far behind. This proves that Bangladesh has great potential and attraction for tourists in this sector. Bangladesh has immense opportunities especially in natural and cultural tourism. Due to this, the number of foreign tourists in Bangladesh is expected to increase rapidly, which is indicating the improvement of tourism sector in the country.

The report also highlighted some shortages in Bangladesh's tourism success. It said that in the International openness Bangladesh has slipped from position 104th to 114th. This has happened due to the increments for visa requirements. In addition, Bangladesh is far behind the global average in tourist services infrastructure. The bureaucratic complexity must also be reduced.

The report recommends utilizing natural resources to move forward the tourism sectors of Bangladesh. The natural tourism is threatened due to relaxation of laws in the protection of the environment. Deadly pollution is reducing the overall attractiveness of Bangladesh. Besides, water purification system is not sufficient.

Of the SAARC countries in the list, India is ranked 34th, Sri Lanka 77th, Nepal 102nd, Bangladesh 120th and Pakistan 121st.

In this year's World Economic Forum discussions, four aspects of tourism sectors have gained importance. These are natural and cultural resources, aviation infrastructure, national travel and tourism policies and proper environment from security to labor market hygiene etc.
