Payra Power Plant Inauguration | Hundred Percent Electrification


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced 100 percent electrification of the country. Shee made the announcement at a rally at Monday, 21st March, 2022. Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country's largest Payra power plant at Kalapara in Patuakhali. She inaugurated the “Payra 1320 mw thermal power plant” at 11:48 on Monday.


The Prime Minister reached the Payra power plant area at 10:42 am to inaugurate the Payra Thermal Power Station. Later at 11:15 am, Sheikh Hasina waved the flag and greeted 200 boats on the Rabnabad River adjacent to the jetty of Payra Thermal Power Plant. At this time, the diversity of life of the people of the coast is highlighted through this boat exhibition. 


The Rabnabad river area was abuzz with various banners, festoons and slogans including song distribution on the boat. At that time, the Prime Minister waved his hand and greeted the fishermen in the boat. The Prime Minister was also seen capturing scenes of the boat show from his mobile. In the morning the boats were lined up at the mouth of the Rabnabad river. Of these, 100 boats were sailing, 100 boats had banner festoons with pictures of the Prime Minister and the remaining 20 boats had security personnel. A total of 880 fishermen in 4 different colors in each boat welcomed the Prime Minister.


Later, the Prime Minister participated in a cordial meeting organized at the Payra power plant. From this auspicious gathering, the Prime Minister announced 100% electrification in the whole country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the country is on the highway of development today as the democratic trend has continued in the country for the last 13 years. The government has succeeded in providing electricity to every household in the country.


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country's largest Payra 1320 mw thermal power plant at Kalapara in Patuakhali.


The Payra 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant is a 1,320 megawatt coal-fired power station built in Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali District in southern Bangladesh. The Payra area in Patuakhali is going to be a major economic hub with a sea port, a special economic zone, an airport and the country's biggest coal-fired power plant that officially launched.

BSMMU Super Specialized Hospital Awaiting Inauguration


New and most modern feathers are being added to the healthcare system of the country. Multi Disciplinary and Super Specialized Hospital is going to start the journey in Bangladesh soon. All kinds of health services will be available in this new super specialized hospital. The construction work of this hospital established on 12 bighas of land in Shahbagh of the capital city Dhaka under BSMMU, the work of purchasing required medical and hospital equipments has been completed.

This Super Specialized Hospital is scheduled to be inaugurated next June after completing the rest work. Renowned Surgeon, Professor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Project Director. Md. Zulfiqar Rahman told a Newspaper that in his 40 years of working life, he has worked in various hospitals across the country as well as in famous hospitals in UK and Singapore. He said that in our country, patients have to go to different places depending on the disease. To alleviate this suffering, the dream was to build a world class hospital with all services. With the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, this hospital will bring a tide of change in the health sector of the country.

Hospital management is being developed by fully digitalizing it. All patient information will be stored through the Hospital Information Center (HIS). All types of healthcare services will be provided through five different centers in this hospital. Patients will get all the services under one roof. He also said that 140 people including doctors, nurses and health workers will be trained in Korea on services and management in the hospital. Training of 50 people is going on, another batch will go to Korea next in April.


The hospital will be modeled on the National University Hospital of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Singapore. Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation must be ensured to maintain the quality of services in the hospital. With this, the approval of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Care (NABH) has to be introduced. The construction work of the hospital is completely finished.

A consignment of equipments has arrived at Chittagong port. All the work including the fitting of these equipments will be completed by the month of May. The hospital will be inaugurated in June and the admission of patients will start. With its launch, BSMMU's education, medical and research activities will be more dynamic and improved.

The initiative of this super specialized hospital was taken in 2012 on 3.8 acres (about 12 bighas) of land on the north side of BSMMU. The project was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on February 2, 2016 at a cost of Tk 1,366 crore. On September 13, 2018, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the project. A loan of Tk 1,047 crore has been received from the South Korean government for the construction of the hospital. Hyundai Corporation Korea is completing the construction work.

The hospital was designed by SUNJIN Engineering & Architecture Co. Ltd, Korea. The multi-disciplinary and super specialized hospital with 12 floors and three basements will have 750 beds. Around 7,000 patients will get service from its outdoor department every day. It has 100 ICU beds and emergency beds. Five different centers include Emergency Medicine, Maternal and Child Health Center, Cardiovascular Center, Hepatobiliary and Gastroenterology Center and Kidney Disease Center.





There will be twelve state-of-the-art operating theaters, where high quality surgeries, including various organ transplants, will be performed. The hospital project is arranged on these two bases: Hospital construction and Advanced training. Professor Dr. Md. Zulfiqar Rahman Khan said that there are 73 cabins in this specialized hospital. Of these, 6 will be for VVIP’s, 21 for VIP’s and the rest will be deluxe cabins.

The hospital will also have ward, surgical intensive care, medical intensive care, coronary care unit, neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric intensive care unit. The patient does not have to go anywhere else to get services in this specialized hospital. Inside the hospital there will be banking facilities, pharmacy, four cafeterias. There will be 16 elevators and an escalator, fire management, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Activities will be controlled digitally from the central control room through CCTV cameras.


This hospital will open a new horizon in Bangladesh’s medical sector. Not only the rich people, the lower and middle class families of the country will get a greater scope to receive special treatment here.

Australian Financial Review Young Rich List | Bangladeshi Ashik Ahmed is 25th


A Bangladeshi young entrepreneur name has emerged in the list of Australia's top young wealthy man. Ashik Ahmed is a young man of 38 years. He is the CEO and co-founder of a software company named Deputy. This software manages team schedules from any device, record accurate employee hours, and make it simple for staff to keep track of their shifts and important store updates. This software can simplify workplace management and make it easier for employees to keep track of daily tasks.

On Thursday, 24 October 2019, the popular business and finance daily ‘The Australian Financial Review’, released a list of the country's top young rich person. Ashik Ahmed is in 25th position in this list of total 103 young business men. Nine women were included in the list. Ashik’s assets are $ 148 million which is equivalent more than 1250 Crore BD Taka.

“Ashik was flipping burgers when he arrived from Bangladesh. Now, he’s worth $148 million”.
According to a report of the Australian Financial Review, Ashik migrated from Bangladesh to Australia at the age of only seventeen. Later he started working at a fast food chain in Melbourne.



Story Behind:

In an interview with Australian media SBS News, Ashik tells the story behind software development. Ashik Ahmed said that initially he worked for hourly pay basis. Then he realized that the calculation for the roster is very difficult. Both the employer and the worker were facing the same problem.


Ashiq commented, he never worked just to earn a living. Rather, his goal was to solve the problem from the beginning.

Ashik was looking for an easy solution to this problem. Later he programmed the Deputy Software as a co-founder with a combination of mathematics, science and workplace experience. After making the software in 2008, he has never looked back.

BMW | Mercedes Benz | Will Assemble Cars in Bangladesh


BMW and Mercedes Benz cars will manufacture or assemble in Bangladesh. The Finance Minister of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh AHM Mustafa Kamal said that Germany has proposed to assemble BMW and Mercedes Benz cars in Bangladesh. Both of the companies already assemble cars in Thailand through a progressive production system. Now they want to start the same assembling in Bangladesh.

They will make some spare parts of BMW and Mercedes Benz here in Bangladesh and some spare parts will bring from overseas. Later cars will be assembled here. The company representatives will meet the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina regarding this issue and after discussion, next steps will be taken. On 10 September 2019, a visiting German business delegation, led by the German ambassador Peter Fahrenholtz, expressed their interest during a meeting with the Finance minister at his Sher-E-Bangla city office.

The finance minister said it was a very good proposal for development of the country. Because if these companies start car assembling or manufacturing here then we don't have to import expensive cars from abroad anymore. Another very good suggestion is that they have promised that they will assist us in ensuring that our GSP benefits are not terminated.

A high-level business delegation from Germany is currently staying in Dhaka for a five-day visit to explore the potential of trade and commerce in Bangladesh. The Finance Minister also said that our relations with Germany are very well known. They have been investing in our country for a long time. Right now they are proposing us that they want to use our jute industry in a big way which is one of our major export earnings.

And inside all the car manufacturer companies in Germany, there are many uses for jute. As with most cars in Germany, jute is used in almost all. The German Asia-Pacific Business Association along with the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry arranged the visit to the German business delegation. The team comprises of business representatives involved in the textile, furniture, shipping, eco-technology, banking and tourism sectors etc.

BCSCL | Services Provided by Bangabandhu Satellite 1


The (BCSCL) Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited is a Government company to operate satellite in Bangladesh and currently the company is operating the Bangabandhu Satellite-1 (BS-1). The BCSCL started its journey arranging a meeting with the Board of Directors held on August 10, 2017.

The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 is the 1st Bangladeshi geostationary communications and Broadcasting Satellite. It was manufactured by Thales Alenia Space and launched on 11 May 2018.

After establishing the BCSCL is working hard to become a leading satellite operator in the country and as well as abroad. The company is performs all BS-1 post launching activities, ground stations, marketing and sales services etc. The primary ground station of BCSCL is at Gazipur and intermediate Ground Station at Betbunia, Rangamati.

Services offered from BCSCL:
BCSCL provides satellite telecommunications services such as DTH, VSAT, Video Distribution, Broadband, Communications Trunks etc.

DTH (Direct To Home):
This service will be provided through Ku Band. As a result, digital TV and radio broadcasts can be reached in villages, towns and remote areas. Customers can avail this service with a small antenna. The operators of the respective country will package the content at their broadcasting centers and send it to other station facilities to upload Bangabandhu ground station or satellite.


Video Distribution:
This service can be provided through the satellite's C band. Through this service, video broadcast can be done anywhere on the coverage area of Bangabandhu satellite coverage area. Customers can avail this service through small to medium type of antenna.


VSAT Private Network:
Networks will support private networks such as voice, data, video and internet services to government or non-government organizations, banks, corporate offices and these organizations can create their own protected networks. BS-1 will be able to provide this service through satellite-1c band. This service will be distributed in Bangladesh using the Ku-band and India + coverage area using the C-Band Beam. The customers for this service will be the providers of satellite services providing end-to-end services for user groups.


Broadband Internet:
It is a Ku-band broadband service that allows users to access high-speed internet with high quality service (independent, organization, corporation or government). This service can be found on the basis of Ku Band of Bangabandhu Satellite. Through this, any organization can use its own Internet-based protection.


Communication Trunks:
The Ku-band and the C-Band Wide Band are high-data-rate point-to-point services that require large antennas on both ends of the circuit. Typically, telecoms and GSM operators use these services. Other services like e-learning, telemedicine and remote office will be promoted by BS-1. It will also provide uninterrupted telecommunications services in national or regional are during any natural disaster. This will enable telecommunication and mobile communication services in remote areas.

Country's First Super Specialized Hospital at BSMMU


The construction work of country’s first Super Specialized Hospital under Bangabandu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) is going on full swing. On 13th September 2018 (Thursday), the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the foundation stone of super specialized hospital which is located at opposite site of the Intercontinental Hotel, Shahbagh, Dhaka.

On the inauguration the Prime Minister said “I would like to request all the teachers, doctors, officials, nurses and employees of the university that you dedicate yourselves to providing health care services to the people. If so, the university will be able to reach its desired destination.”

She said to everyone engage on BSMMU “You will have to further enhance concentration on research, take effective measures so that people can be kept away from diseases. You will have to enhance public awareness on health. We, on the part of our government will keep extending all assistance to you.”


Earlier in 2nd February, 2016 construction of a super specialized hospital at BSMMU was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

This hospital will open a new horizon in Bangladesh’s medical sector. Not only the rich people, the lower and middle class families of the country will get a greater scope to receive special treatment here.

The PM also said, she formed a separate fund providing BD Taka 10 crore when the BSMMU was established and will provide more BD Taka 10 crore from the PM’s relief fund so that lower-income patients can receive better treatment by availing support from the interest received from that fund.

In 2017, the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Export-Import Bank of South Korea from the resources of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Republic of Korea. The total amount was 1366 Crore BDT for Establishment of a Multi-disciplinary and Super-specialized Hospital at BSMMU.



In June 2018, BSMMU has signed a deal with the Korean Hyundai Development Company to construct 1000-bed super specialized hospital at its compound. Vice-Chancellor of BSMMU Professor Dr. Kanak Kanti Barua presided over the signing ceremony. The general manager of Hyundai Development Company Jong Chol Shin and head of the surgery department of BSMMU Dr. Md Zulfiqur Rahman Khan signed on behalf of their respective sides.

BSMMU Super Specialized Hospital project:
  • Total land of the construction area is 3.8 acres on the north side of BSMMU cabin block.
  • Total 13-Storey smart hospital building.
  • Estimated cost of the project is BD Taka 1,366 crore was initiated.
  • South Korea will provide Tk1,047 crore as a low-interest loan with a 40-year repayment period facility.
  • One thousand (1000) bed hospitals will be equipped with most modern equipments.
  • It will have the capability of treating some 5,000 - 8,000 patients at the outdoor department each day.
  • For the first time, ‘centre-based’ medical services will be provided here.
  • It will be the first patient-friendly green hospital in Bangladesh.
  • Everything will be run on the hospital in digital system.
  • Initially 80 doctors and 30 nurses will be trained from Korea to serve people with dedication.
  • As per the agreement, the construction work will be completed in 30 months.

There will be beautiful gardens around the hospital, sunken gardens, rooftop gardens, and other environment-friendly facilities. The Super Specialized Hospital will be a full-fledged research center.

On the inauguration, the Prime Minister has also opened the new structures constructed under the Centre of Excellence Project at BSMMU. The structures include a convention centre north side of the Intercontinental Hotel, Doctor’s dormitory, and the diagnostics and oncology building on the Bangabandu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

Samsung Refrigerator Mobile Phone | Made in Bangladesh


Fair Electronics factory which is located in Shibpur upazila under Narsingdi district of Bangladesh is now manufacturing Samsung's refrigerator and Samsung Mobile Phones in the country. “Made in Bangladesh” is now appearing in some models of the world famous Samsung's refrigerators and Cell phones. Some versions of Samsung refrigerator will be low price. Lots of Bangladeshi workers are working in this factory and low and medium range Samsung mobile phones are manufacturing in this factory.

The name ‘Samsung’ is not only well known in Bangladesh but across the whole world. Cell phones, refrigerators or fridges, Air-conditioner (AC) and other electronic products made by Samsung are very popular in the country. Samsung brand mobile handsets are available in the hands of people of Bangladesh. Now, the new NEWS is that Samsung's refrigerator / fridge wrap is now written in Bangladesh or made in Bangladesh.

Samsung Electronics’ refrigerator is now being manufactured at Fair Electronics Factory in Shibpur Upazila, near Narsingdi. Some versions of Samsung refrigerators manufactured in the factory, are selling at low and medium prices in various stores across the country.


Around 600 peoples have been employed in this factory. A part of the staffs has been trained in Korea and Samsung's staff from Korea even trained Bangladeshi workers here. A young woman named Irene Akhter was working in the cell phone manufacturing unit. She said that this is her first job and she learned the work through training in the factory. Fair Group Chairman said, "Bangladeshi peoples are very good at work. They can learn quickly but we need more educated people with technical background.”

Fair Electronics is one of the Samsung's distributors in Bangladesh. Their factory has been built with the technical support of Samsung Electronics. The group has invested around 600 crore taka to build this manufacturing unit in 16 acres of land. Recently, the price of Samsung products has decreased due to the production in Bangladesh. But the quality of products is equivalent to any other manufacturing countries such as Korea, Vietnam or Thailand. There is no difference. Fridges and Mobile phones manufactured in Bangladesh have fault less than others.




South Korea's electronics giant Samsung has 39 factories around the world. They have established research and product development centers at 35 places. Their products are designed in 7 centers. Transcom Electronics produces Samsung's Television in Bangladesh. Fair Electronics factory was launched in July 2019. At present huge numbers of Samsung Refrigerators and mobile phones that are selling in the countries market made of the factory. Some high quality refrigerators and mobile phones are still importing.

The fair group said that they have reduced the prices of the Samsung refrigerator by a little bit in the country. As a result, Samsung's share has increased in the 20 million refrigerator sales in the country every year. Samsung's refrigerator VAT in the country is now 35 percent, which will increase 40 percent soon. The value addition of mobile phone is 10 percent. The factory took initiative to create the motherboard of mobile phones and value added tax will increase when it starts.
