About Cumilla Export Processing Zone | EPZ

Comilla EPZ (Export Processing Zone) is one of the important among all the EPZ in Bangladesh. Established in the year 2000 and located in Comilla Airport are (near Tomsom Bridge). The Cumilla district is an exclusive business zone in Bangladesh and the EZP is playing an important role in the economy of the country. Below are details of the zone.

• Space of Standard Factory Building: 61122.15 Sqm

• Water Supply: Treated water through Treatment Plant
• Water Tariff: BDT 35.78 per CM
• Gas Supply: From Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited
• Gas Tariff: BDT 8.54 per CM
• Power Supply: Own Sub-Station of 11 kv, 3 phase, 50 cycles / second
• Electricity Tariff: BDT 8.97 / Kwh
• Effluent Treatment: Treated effluent through CETP of capacity 15000 CM / day
• Tariff: BDT 38.54 / CM

Investment in Comilla EPZ:

The EPZ established in 2000, in the year 2001-02 the investment amount was only 0.64 million US$. In 2002-03 it was 1.69 million US$, in 2003-04 it was 10.72 million US$, in 2004-05 it was 30.31 million US$, in 2005-06 it was 40.93 million US$, in 2006-07 it was 61.95 million US$, in 2007-08 it was 71.67 million US$, in 2008-09 it was 79.87 million US$, in 2009-10 it was 100.31 million US$, in 2010-11 it was 136.57 million US$, in 2011-12 it was 156.64 million US$, in 2012-13 it was 177.7 million US$, in 2013-14 it was 201.09 million US$, in 2014-15 it was 224.50 million US$, in 2015-16 it was 254.68 million US$, in 2016-17 it was 284.00 million US$ and in the fiscal year 2017-18 total investment amount in Comila EPZ became 315.51 million US$.

Export from Cumilla EPZ:

In the year 2001-02 total Export amount was only 0.01 million US$. In 2002-03 it was 1.16 million US$, in 2003-04 it was 5.26 million US$, in 2004-05 it was 14.91 million US$, in 2005-06 it was 49.9 million US$, in 2006-07 it was 95.91 million US$, in 2007-08 it was 227.29 million US$, in 2008-09 it was 323.14 million US$, in 2009-10 it was 418.48 million US$, in 2010-11 it was 563.95 million US$, in 2011-12 it was 712.3 million US$, in 2012-13 it was 889.24 million US$, in 2013-14 it was 1098.66 million US$, in 2014-15 it was 1373.28 million US$, in 2015-16 it was 1681.61 million US$, in 2016-17 it was 2019.00 million US$ and in the fiscal year 2017-18 total Export amount from Comilla EPZ became 2427.65 million US$.

Year Wise Employment in Cumilla EPZ:

In the year 2001-02 total numbers of employments in Comilla EPZ was only 442. In 2002-03 it was 1440, in 2003-04 it was 2494, in 2004-05 it was 2814, in 2005-06 it was 5787, in 2006-07 it was 6105, in 2007-08 it was 7777, in 2008-09 it was 7712, in  2009-10 it was 6964, in 2010-11 it was 10841, in 2011-12 it was 12776, in 2012-13 it was 14713, in 2013-14 it was 16474, in 2014-15 it was 21821, in 2015-16 it was 24343, in 2016-17 it was 27019 and in the recent year 2017-18 total number of employments became 31648 in the EPZ.
