Pallabi Mirpur to Airport Uttara in 10 Minutes | New Flyover

It will take only 10 minutes to reach at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Mirpur. The road getting ready on the way to Uttara, Banani and Gulshan-bound passengers, who are suffering due to long traffic congestions in the morning and evening. There will be flyover of 2,435-meter-long in this route which will looks like English alphabet ‘Y’. Along with this, four lane roads are being widened to six lanes to ease the passenger's journey on the same road. Six bus bay and a separate cycle track are being made.

Apart from Mirpur DOHS area, a new 3.7 Kms road is being constructed, which will go to the new extension part of Uttara and meets the airport area. As a result, Mirpur residents will be able to reach the airport in the fastest and shortest time. Concerned of this project said that if the project does not face any problems and everything is okay, then the construction of these infrastructure will be completed in June 2020 and the 7th flyover of Dhaka City will be used in the capital. Dhaka will be connected to a new dimension. As a result, road communication through Mirpur, Pallabi, Dhaka Cantonment, Uttara and Mohakhali will be easier and better.

After approval of this project in January 2018, the project started on March of that year but the survey was done in 2016. The flyover starting from the ECB Chattar at Kalshi intersection, one end point at near Kalshi Graveyard and another is end point at in Mirpur DOHS area by number 12 in the Sagufta Housing area. In fact, within five years after the construction of Kalshi road, traffic congestion became huge in the morning and evening hours, due to excessive pressure from Uttara-Gulshan-bound passenger vehicles. Last year, as of April 2018, around 86 thousand passenger cars are transported by this road annually. But in the future, DOHS and for its surrounding government housing project, traffic congestion will increase after completion of the Sagufta housing.

The project was taken to increase the road up to Mirpur, from Mirpur to ECB to construct flyovers at Kalshi intersection. For the same reason, the road below the flyover is widening from four lanes to six lanes. In the new extension part of Uttara, a new 3.7 km long adjacent to the DOHS is constructing for the convenience of the dwellers. At the same time, Kalshi Bridge is being expanded. As part of the project, two more public toilets and two police boxes will be built here. Under the Local Government Division, Dhaka North City Corporation and Bangladesh Army jointly are implementing the project.

Of these, the City Corporation Authority has been working in the technical and planning part of the project. But the army 17 ECB (Engineering Construction Battalion) is operating the entire work. It took time to do the work of strengthening the soil of the project area. Expenditure is increasing in this. For this, the project cost has increased to 986 crore taka. Hopefully, if the funding of the project is ok then the construction will be completed by June 2020. And when it’s done, there will be no traffic congestion in this area.

The development work is going on full swing till the main gate of the Mirpur DOHS residential area from Mirpur's ECB Chattar, the main road and the extension of the flyover and road along the main road. Construction workers surrounding these areas are working hard day and night to build special flyovers. For the last one month, huge and heavy equipment has been installed to build the flyover by the main road. In the meantime, after the removal of the infrastructures of these places, the construction of the big pillar was started by digging the soil.

The 17 ECB people and construction workers are working to make the road equal to the ground where the roads are expanded from the DOHS to the ECB complex. The concerned people are working to strengthen the area's soil before constructing the new project's infrastructure which is a very time-consuming and costly job. In addition to the construction of the project, 479 families who had built a house there in Kalshi were legally evicted. However, the families of the housing authorities were rehabilitated nearby.

Thanks a lot,
