The Khilgaon
flyover was opened on March 2005 and it was the second inaugurated flyover in Dhaka
city as well as in the country.
Later in 2016,
construction work of a new extended u-loop of Khilgaon flyover has been done
and the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated it on June, 2016. After
opening this loop traffic connection became easier to Malibagh Rail Gate to
Rajarbagh Police line.
Large volume of traffic coming from Progoti
Sarani, Mothertek, Kadamtali, Basabo, Shepaibag, Meradia and Goran could not
use the existing flyover and they do not have any other uninterrupted access
toward Motijheel and Rajarbag.
In 2012, the extended work started with Tk 46
crore more. The extension has newly built 23 pillars and 22 slabs.
