This is a review post
about the official web portal of The Ministry of Industries (MOIND) of
the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.
As per the info provided
on the portal: An important objective of creating this website is to
disseminate the useful information relating to industries, so that the foreign
investors as well as local entrepreneur / stakeholders can learn about the
services of MOIND through online.
A little about the Ministry:
The Ministry of Industries
is located at the Motijheel commercial area in Dhaka city. Before the
liberation war (1971), there was a department of Commerce and Industries in
Dhaka, then the provincial capital. After independence of Bangladesh a new
Ministry was created by the Govt. as the Ministry of Commerce and Industries in
1972. The ministry was shifted from Bangladesh Secretariat to the present place
in 1978. Afterward it was divided into 3 Ministries:
- Ministry of Commerce
- Ministry of Industries
- Ministry of Textile and Jute
Board of
Investment and Privatization commission came out as separate entities in 1989
and 2000 respectively from the Ministry of Industries. There are four
corporations, 6 directorate / institutions and one Accreditation Board working
under the ministry of Industries. The ministry supervises and coordinates the
activities, policy matters and administrative affairs of these organizations in
conformity with the existing laws, rules and regulations.
The Ministry of Industries
carries out some functions through its six wings. The Wings are:
- Administration
and Co-ordination
- Autonomous
Bodies
- Audit and
Department
- Privatization
(Disinvestment) Laws and International Co-operation
- Research and
Development
- Planning.
Responsibilities:
Ministry of
Industries is primarily responsible for developing new policies, ideas and
strategies for promotion, expansion and sustainable development of Industrial
sector of the Bangladesh. Given the present environment and increasing trend in
globalization, the private sector is playing an important role in the
industrialization of the country. The Ministry of Industries has taken the role
of a facilitator with a view to creating increased industrial activities in the
country.
The official
web portal of the Ministry of Industry provides some basic information about
the structure of this Ministry, activities of the Ministry. Just like other
Govt. portals, this site also published other govt. websites of the country.
This site will help all
concerned understand the way, in which the Ministry of Industry is functioning
and the efforts exerted by the Ministry towards fulfilling the hopes and
aspirations of the citizen of Bangladesh and above all its towards our national
growth and economic development.
